Welcome to Bacton Bees! We are the founders of a small but growing beekeeping operation in the heart of mid-Suffolk.
Ian’s passion for beekeeping started to grow some time ago. Following a change in his work, he had the opportunity to enrol in a beginner’s beekeeping course with the West Suffolk Beekeepers Association. The course included hands-on experience at their apiary and Ian couldn’t wait to start his own beekeeping journey with a single hive in our back garden.
That one hive quickly grew into several and before long, Ian was on the lookout for new apiary sites.
We’re so grateful to local farmers, landowners and business owners who’ve kindly let us set up our hives in some of Suffolk’s most beautiful countryside, where wildflowers, fields and hedgerows provide a perfect environment for our bees.
As the hives grew, Ian soon realised it was a team effort, so Louise joined him to help with inspections, honey extraction and all the other joys of beekeeping. Together, we’re always learning and growing, deepening our knowledge through education and hands-on experience.
At Bacton Bees, we take pride in being responsible beekeepers, creating small-batch local honey from our apiaries across Suffolk.
Thanks for supporting our journey!

BIBBA (Bee Improvement and Bee Breeders Association) https://bibba.com who are dedicated to improving and conserving Apis mellifera mellifera, the native honey bee of Britain and Ireland (aka European Dark Bee), and to encourage beekeepers to keep locally adapted honey bees in areas where Amm doesn’t exist. Bacton Bees supports this fully and has AMM & locally adapted bees.
